Autolox LTD – Terms and Conditions of Service
and 12-Month Warranty

1. About Us
Autolox LTD (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides specialist mobile auto locksmith services, including:
- Vehicle entry
- Lost or broken key assistance
- Spare and replacement keys
- Remote fobs and transponders
- Key programming and coding
- Immobiliser-related module programming
- Steering column lock (SCL) repairs and bypass solutions
- Ignition repairs and replacements
- Lock repair and replacement
- Diagnostic and electronic vehicle security services
These Terms apply to all services provided to both private and commercial customers unless agreed otherwise in writing.
2. Definitions
- Customer / you – The person or organisation requesting our services
- Vehicle – The vehicle we are working on
- Services – Any labour, diagnostics, programming, entry, or locksmith work
- Parts – Keys, remotes, locks, modules, and components supplied by us
Call-out – Attendance at a location to carry out work
3. Acceptance of Terms
By booking, requesting, or allowing work to be carried out, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
4. Proof of Ownership & Authority
We will not carry out any work without sufficient proof that you are authorised.
We may require:
- V5C logbook
- Photo ID
- Proof of address
- Employer or lease authorisation
We reserve the right to refuse service if this is not provided.
5. Bookings, Estimates & Pricing
- All prices given prior to attendance are estimates, not fixed quotes
- Final cost may change based on vehicle condition or complexity
- Additional charges may apply for:
- extra labour
- specialist parts
- unforeseen faults
A call-out or diagnostic fee may still apply even if the job cannot be completed
6. Emergency Work & Cancellation Rights
Where you request urgent or same-day service:
- Work may begin immediately
- Your statutory cancellation rights may not apply
If work begins within a cancellation period, you agree to pay for work completed
7. Mobile Service Policy
Autolox LTD is a mobile-only service.
- We do not operate from a public workshop
- Our registered address is administrative only
Warranty & Follow-Ups
- All inspections are by appointment
- You may be required to meet at a suitable location
Call-Out Fees
- May apply for return visits
- Refundable only if fault is proven to be ours
8. Customer Responsibilities
You must:
- Provide accurate vehicle information
- Disclose previous repairs or faults
- Ensure safe access to the vehicle
Failure to disclose relevant issues may affect liability and warranty.
9. Diagnosis & Technical Limitations
Some faults cannot be identified until work begins.
We do not guarantee:
- First-time fixes on all vehicles
- Compatibility with all systems
- Successful programming where underlying faults exist
9.1 Steering Column Lock & Immobiliser Work
SCL bypasses, emulators, and immobiliser programming services are:
- Specialist electronic solutions
- Not mechanical restoration of original systems
These may:
- Alter factory security
- Affect insurance or resale
9.2 MOT Guidance
Under the current DVSA MOT guidelines Section 7.1.1 ( last checked 01/01/2026) –
The manual for Class 3, 4, 5, and 7 vehicles states:
“It’s acceptable for a steering lock to be missing or not working as long as the vehicle has an engine immobiliser, or a permanently installed immobilisation device which acts on either the steering, brakes or the transmission.”
This is subject to interpretation and change.
9.3 Insurance Responsibility
You are solely responsible for notifying your insurer of any modification.
Autolox LTD accepts no liability for:
- invalidated policies
- refused claims
- premium increases
10. Parts & Supply
10.1 Parts Provided by Us
- May be OEM, aftermarket, or reconditioned
- Subject to availability and compatibility
10.2 Customer-Supplied Parts
If you supply your own parts:
- No warranty is provided
- Labour is still fully chargeable
- We are not liable for failure
Electronic Risk
Customer-supplied parts may:
- fail
- corrupt systems
- Corrupt and/or damage electronic modules
Autolox LTD accepts no liability for resulting damage or recovery costs.
11. Completion of Work
Work is complete when:
- the requested function is restored, or
- we advise further faults prevent full completion
You should test all functions before we leave.
12. Payment Terms
- Payment is due immediately upon completion
- We may require payment in advance or a deposit
We reserve the right to:
- withhold keys or access until paid
- recover costs for non-payment
13. Cancellations & Wasted Call-Outs
Charges may apply if:
- you cancel late
- you are unavailable
- the vehicle is inaccessible
- incorrect information was given
- you decline work after attendance
14. Consumer Rights
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 remain unaffected.
15. 12-Month Warranty
15.1 Warranty Period
We provide a 12-month warranty on:
- Parts supplied by Autolox LTD
- Associated workmanship
15.2 What is Covered
- Manufacturing defects
- Workmanship faults
- Programming failures caused by our work
15.3 Warranty Service Conditions
- Appointment only
- May require travel to a meeting location
- Call-out fees may apply
- Fees refunded if fault is ours
15.4 SCL & Immobiliser Work
Warranty applies only to:
- Our parts
- Our workmanship
It does NOT cover:
- insurance decisions
- MOT outcomes
- manufacturer acceptance
15.5 Exclusions
Not covered:
- wear and tear
- misuse or damage
- water or impact damage
- vehicle electrical faults
- battery issues
- third-party interference
- pre-existing faults
15.6 Void Conditions
Warranty is void if:
- tampered with
- modified by others
- incorrect installation by third party
15.7 Claims Process
You must:
- contact within 12 months
- provide invoice
- allow inspection
Non-covered faults may be chargeable.
15.8 Legal Rights
This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights.
16. Refunds & Remedies
We may:
- repair
- replace
- reprogram
- refund (if necessary)
We choose the appropriate remedy.
17. Liability
We are not liable for:
- loss of earnings
- vehicle downtime
- indirect losses
Liability is limited to the amount paid for the service.
18. Force Majeure
We are not responsible for delays caused by:
- weather
- traffic
- system failures
- supply issues
19. Data & Security
We may retain:
- job records
- vehicle data
- diagnostic information
For operational and legal purposes.
20. Privacy
We process data in line with UK GDPR for:
- service delivery
- payment
- fraud prevention
- warranty handling
21. Complaints
Contact us with your invoice details.
We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
22. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time.
23. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
